Even though he may have not been a professional golfer President Taft was the first confirmed President to have golfed! Taft as early as 1911 was advocating for the sport for both men and women to golf. He also recognized that golf is a great opportunity to get away from business cares allowing hard working people to get some rest and recreation out on the greens.
Additional fun fact even though President Taft was the first confirmed President to golf it is rumored that President Teddy Roosevelt was actually the first to pick up the sport. During Teddy's time in office golf was still a very private sport and was not publicized that you did it in your free time.Â
